On your journey to become an alpha male, not only do you need to know the alpha male characteristics you should display, but more importantly, the beta male traits you should avoid. The opposite of the alpha male is the beta male. I say this is more important because, as humans, we pick up more on negative attributes more so than positive ones.
Work on avoiding these negative behaviours, and you will notice the way people treat and regard you in both work and social situations will change, for the better, and in turn you will naturally begin to exhibit characteristics that are more suited to the alpha male.
Leering at every attractive woman who walks by
Pretty girls know they turn heads, and they are used to every guy craning their necks in the street to check them out. When a guy doesnt even notice her, she will want to know why. Her reactions to you, who is supposedly uninterested in her, will change, and she will pay you more attention, not less.
Being antagonistic with people
Not just with women, but with other men too. The alpha male retains a composed and relaxed air about him. It is a weak man, uncertain of his own status, who starts fights (whether verbal or physical).
Not taking a lead on the agenda when talking with other people
If someone is droning on about his latest sales figures, or about how her flatmate never washes the dishes and it is both uninteresting and of no use to you, then make it known. Either steer the conversation around to something which interests you or, using body language techniques, end the conversation all together. Your time is valuable so dont give people your interest if they havent earned it.
Constantly seeking reassurance and approval
If you sound unsure of what you are saying, by ending your sentences with right? or do you think? then you are displaying a common beta male trait. The alpha male doesnt need constant praise or assurance that what hes doing is right.
Always trying to dominate and prove you are better than someone else
If you look at the successful people around today, they arent necessarily highly intelligent themselves, but they are smart enough to know they need to surround themselves with clever people. In large organisations you see this beta male trait a lot with middle management. They feel they need to be the most knowledgeable at whatever their discipline, because they are a manager. This couldnt be further from the truth. As a good manager, your job is to improve the skills and knowledge of your team. By constantly trying to out-do people and impress with your knowledge, you actually come across as quite weak and uncertain. The confident alpha male doesnt need to do this.
